I've been working as a writer and producer
of media since the early 1990s.
I started out working in music and film, moved onto
radio then worked as a project manager for the print, graphics,
advertising and publishing industries.
Along the way, I wrote and produced 12
episodes of the cable television unplugged series "Northwest
Tunesmith" and produced a CD of
original music.
Continuing my work in publishing, I wrote and edited for a regional trade journal
serving the print, broadcast, film and advertising industries
and the later edited and produced several monthly and weekly newsletters for nonprofit
and professional organizations.
I did the Mommy Track and worked at a
church for the next seven years while I wrote dozens of
feature film scripts, earned honors in competitions
and judged other competitions. One script was optioned. My
daughter is beautiful and happy.
Next I took a job as Senior
Book Editor for a niche publishing house, I worked with several authors, (including a
best-selling author), to create and edit books about stock market trading
as well as writing marketing collateral around the book
launches.
My foray into
interactive multimedia and digital storytelling
began in 2001 when I accepted the job of managing a media production department for a fiber
optic training firm. In addition to editing and producing
print, video and PowerPoint training materials, I
was charged with launching production of interactive multimedia
products. These
programs were installed in B2B trade show kiosks,
distributed as promotional DVDs and used as computer-based
training (CBT) courses.
The economic downturn following 911, along
with the demise of Global Crossing and WorldCom, I left the
fiber optics firm and returned to freelancing. Projects from
this period include:
-
Ghostwriting a book, articles and
marketing copy for an investment company
-
Writing, producing and directing a short film called "Fast Lane"
-
Writing and directing a fundraising video for my church
-
Recording a second music CD of original music
My next project was to design and
write an
interactive multimedia script for the first in a series of interactive dog
training lessons. This project involved logging existing video,
designing value-added interactive features and writing the
actual script used by the video editor.
Another client had me design, write and
produce
174-page training manual and PowerPoint show for his real
estate classes and then manage his
Internet campaign to promote his classes. The objective was to
fill seats for a series of classes on how to do Short Sales in
the challenging real estate market.
After I completed the manual and PowerPoint
program, I planned how to get the client from where he was to
where he wanted to be. I started out migrating and vetting
40,000 contact records from multiple databases through Constant
Contact and Vertical Response Contact Management Systems (CMS)
and into
Infusionsoft CMS. To do this I got up
to speed fast on each CMS, then had to design, write, execute and administer
an
Internet marketing campaign to move the data through each CMS,
in order to generate the triple-opted in list the client wanted.
While vetting the records I fixed the
website shopping cart and set up Infusionsoft to handle the
results of our vetting campaign. We
filled a lot of seats over a six month period and the client was
very pleased with the overall results of the campaigns.
I am once again involved in interactive
multimedia and new media projects and am open to educational,
marketing or
edutainment projects.
